Williamtown RAAF Base R22 Upgrade | Sustainability Meets Precision

CTY was engaged to complete the upgrade of all mechanical systems at the Williamtown Royal Australian Air Force Base. The project involved the decommissioning, removal, and replacement of over 170 redundant R-22 refrigerant air conditioning systems for the Department of Defence and BGIS.

A key focus of this project was sustainability. During the upgrade, we successfully reclaimed and safely disposed of over 600kg of R-22 refrigerant, a substance with a greenhouse gas impact 1,760 times greater than carbon dioxide. Handling legacy systems like this requires expertise, meticulous planning, and a deep understanding of compliance.

The Williamtown R22 Upgrade Project also included the replacement of over 300 outdated R22 HCFC air conditioning systems with modern, efficient alternatives. This not only improved performance but ensured the installations met current standards.

Delivered within just three months of engagement, the project enabled stakeholders to achieve their Green Star initiative goals right on schedule. At CTY, we are proud to combine precision engineering with sustainable outcomes, helping our clients meet both performance and environmental targets.
